We are one of 1500 clubs affiliated to the UK Probus organisation which provides good fellowship for retired business and professional men in the locality. We have been going for 50 years and currently have about 50 members.
A regular lunch is held on the second Monday of each month at the Holiday Inn, Felix Lane off Fordingbridge Road. Members enjoy a reasonably priced drink and three course lunch. This is followed by a guest speaker talking on a variety of interesting topics.
Pub lunches with lady guests are a regular feature, visiting one of the many excellent pubs in the area.
Theatre visits are arranged to the Richmond, Windsor, Sonning etc. usually filling a coach hired for the occasion. Similarly, we have day trips by coach to places of special interest. In June we visited Sir Harold Hillier gardens in Hampshire and also the nearby Montisfont Abbey where we ate lunch. Our last trip was to Denbies Wine Estate, including a ride on their “train” to see the vines.
Each year we organise a short holiday; some have been abroad and others have been to interesting, more distant places in the U.K.
The club is non political, non sectarian and has members from a wide variety of business and professional backgrounds.
